History about JEE Entrance Examination in India: CBSE


'Joint Entrance Examination - JEE' is one of the largest Entrance Examination in India. JEE Entrance Exam is organised by the 'Central Board of Secondary Education - CBSE' through the Government of India. JEE is an all India common entrance examination which is conducted for admission in various engineering courses like B.Tech, B.E, B.Arch and B.Planning under the direction of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

In 2012, 'CBSE -Central Board of Secondary Education' has announced this common examination in place of AIEEE and IIT-JEE. JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is being conducted into two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced.
Parts of JEE Entrance Examination:
01. Part 01: JEE Mains.
02. Part 02: JEE Advanced.

JEE Main Exam is to admission in National Institutes of Technology, IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute), etc. and JEE-Advanced is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) and the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad.

JEE Mains Entrance Exam has two Papers.
» Paper 01 is for admission in B.Tech (online and offline).
» Paper 02 is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning (offline only).
(Note: Both papers contain objective type questions).

"JEE is an Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.

The States of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) - 2014 application form online."
